Since it is one of my favourite websites dedicated to home design and the lifestyle of contemporary families….I was so exited to see Rafa-kids beds in one of the homes! Spacious and modern house close by Amsterdam. Tessa is taking care of her 3 boys and she decorates their rooms with a minimal and cosy touch. Our Rafa-kids F&A sets were used in the boys’ rooms together with the mix match of some vintage and modern pieces. I really like the touch of deep blue and natural material accessories. Thank you Thesocialitefamily and Constance Gennari for spotting our design in this unique space.

During our visit in Tokyo, we had a chance to discover few of ACTUS stores. If you are not familiar with Ouur, it is lifestyle publisher and agency creating print and digital media for young creative audience. Under theIR roof you can find Kinfolk. A slow lifestyle magazine which explores ways for readers to simplify their lives, cultivate community and spend more time with their friends and family. It is all about homemade, handmade, the craft-made and the self-made. The idea of creating a product that satisfies a particular use or user rather than the global population, is very close to Rafa-kids concept too.
ACTUS also hosted in 2016 collaboration with one of my favourite designers Cecilie Manz, called Moku. The series includes chair, bench, table for everyday life. It’s all about simplicity, pure materials and beauty.
“ … That’s one response to society’s increasing speediness: making designs effective rather than efficient. We don’t want to waste time trying to do things, find things and make things happen when they’re completely unnecessary. At the same time, we don’t want to live like machines: We want to feel “at home.” We want to prfioritize the unmeasurable stuff: things like atmosphere, tactility, beauty and comfort. These qualities slow you down; they really embed your body in a place…”

I’m back with our Monday’s inspiration for children’s room. I find Spring time so inspiring and this season gives me such a good energy to change things at home. Nature is awake and the botanical trend seems just so perfect to bring also indoor. I wrote already some other post about greenery here: Green Wall.
Today I take inspiration form botanical prints and patterns which are such a wonderful motives to adopt in kids deco. Don’t’ you think? It doesn’t need to take a lot of time and costs much. We can put a wallpaper with floral pattern in small part of the room, or poster with floral motives, or get a bedding set and pillows with some floral details. If you have more space and patience, what about creating some real garden with your kids. We just started a little indoor garden with my 5 years old, and he just loves it. Every day he is checking if the little zucchini and broccoli are growing. It’s not only looking great but our kids learn to take care of it and grow little nature in their surrounding. Interesting, especially for the city kids, as mine. I think this is one of the greatest trends happening since a long time…..

It’s already Friday and it's time to relax….
our kids have 2 weeks off from school so it will be even slower time for us in the coming days.
I thought I will show you few pictures from our visit in Kyoto. It was a short trip to this magic place and we feel we didn’t have enough of it. We biked through the city and it’s small streets. Stopping by some small studios producing ceramics, brushes or traditional indigo dying. Often we entered these small houses not knowing what to expect, and we loved that so much! We visited few temples, but they were so packed with people that we escaped from there very fast and took our own path…
Have a wonderful weekend.

Three years ago we welcomed in Rotterdam a very special team from ACTUS Interiors from Japan.
Last Summer the first shipment of Rafa-kids beds arrived in that beautiful country
and was welcomed into NEW KIDS COLLECTION of ACTUS.
This Spring Rafa-kids finally had chance to discover the world of our partner
on the other side of the globe. What a life time experience!
To begin we broke ice having a fantastic evening filled with amazing Japanese dishes and drinks. Next day we were guided to some of the beautiful ACTUS stores in Tokyo (from around 50 in total). They all have a bit different atmosphere and are located in different areas of the city. ACTUS has many years of experience in importing furniture and unique vintage pieces from Europe.
The kids world is new in their collection, so seeing Rafa-kids beds exposed at the prominent places in the shops made us so proud. After running around the busy Tokyo we finished the day with an Interview for Milk_Japon. Between much laughter, interesting questions and direct personal translations from English to Japanese, it was such a fun to do!
In the evening, tired but exited we were ‘gathering’ at the ACTUS Slow House in Søholm.
What a special space! It is outside the city, located within a SLOW HOUSE interior shop and fronted with the fantastic water view. We just wished the time to stop and let us enjoy that evening for longer…
Thank you so much ACTUS Interiors for having us around and welcoming Rafa-kids with such a hospitality and kindness.
